Dr Rami Sorial has been providing emergency and elective orthopaedic services to the Penrith area since 1997 at both Nepean Hospital and Nepean Private Hospital. He also consults with the Macquarie Orthopaedic Group at North Ryde within the clinic adjacent to the Macquarie University Private Hospital where he performs elective surgery every fortnight. Our devoted staff will provide personalised care, expertise and a range of treatments to fulfil the individual needs of our patients.

Dr Rami Sorial was trained in Sydney and completed Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1993. He undertook two further years of subspecialty training in hip and knee surgery including fellowships in Phoenix and Boston and further training in London before returning to a senior lecturer post at the Royal North Shore Hospital in 1996.

He was appointed to the Nepean Hospital in 1997 as a VMO and continues to provide a specialty practice in both primary and complex revision joint reconstruction, knee and hip replacement, arthroscopic knee surgery and ligament reconstruction as well as a trauma service for a busy regional trauma centre.

He is currently Head of Department at Nepean Hospital in Penrith with appointments also to Nepean Private Hospital and Macquarie University Private Hospital. His academic appointments include Adjunct Associate Professor of surgery Sydney University. Dr Sorial has lectured extensively on the wide topics of joint replacement and reconstruction both nationally and internationally and has participated in demonstration surgeries locally and overseas to advance and share surgical skills particularly within the Asia Pacific Region.

He was awarded a visiting professorship through Sichuan University for his work in West China Hospital, Chengdu and has served for 3 years as the President of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society (see http://apasonline.org ). He is currently the scientific chairman of APAS and is involved in organising international conferences to share knowledge with colleagues in India, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Egypt.
