It was a case of spine operated for spondylolysthesis with Moss Miami pedicular screw system. The drain was inadvertently caught by one of the deep stitch. Noticed at the time of drain removal. This was tackled by passing a sharp tipped K wire through the drain and giving counter traction to the drain tube by pulling. By few to and fro movements, the culprit stitch could be cut without opening the wound and the drain tube could be removed. This was my third such case all successfully removed by this technique in the past two decades. The hypothesis of this technique is if the drain tube is caught with the stitch then probably the stitch has passed through the canal of the tube as it will be very difficult to pass just in the wall of the tube as the needle will slip off.
