Dr Lahiri attained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999, and his specialist accreditation in Hand surgery in 2008 for which he was the College of Surgeons gold medal recipient. Following this, he was awarded a one year fellowship at the University Hospital of South Manchester, during which he also completed his Masters in Tissue Engineering from Manchester University.

Dr Lahiri has more than 15 years of experience in managing a wide range of clinical conditions affecting the hand. His interests include treatment of injuries of the hand, compressive neuropathies, arthritis and microsurgical reconstruction of the hand. Dr Lahiri has numerous publications in scientific journals from his studies on carpal tunnel syndrome and sensory function of the hand. He was awarded National Medical Research Council research grants in 2013 and 2015, and has concluded a major research project on the development of bionic neural interfaces with the Singapore Institute of Neurotechnology, NUS. He is the co-inventor of a computer assisted microsurgery simulation system, which was granted a full US patent, and has since been adopted by many teaching centres around the world.
